- Thanks for uploading. I love these books, even if Crichton's grasp of the scientific concepts he references is invariably laughable. Also, has anyone else noticed that the one and only word he uses to report speech is "said"? Never a "shouted," "replied," "whispered," "gasped," "muttered," "whined," "screamed" or anything? I only notice this because I had an English teacher at age 9-10 who made us write a story without using the word "said" - I couldn't be more grateful to him, except when listening to / reading Crichton, it drives me nuts! lol
